How do non-binding bookings work at ABC Student & Home?

6 min read

Have you chosen your accommodation but aren’t sure what to expect after submitting the form? Booking student accommodation in Brno with ABC Student & Home is deliberately simple and, above all, non-binding. By submitting the form, you’re letting us know that you’re interested in a room; you’re not signing anything and you’re not committing to anything. Nevertheless, it’s worth knowing how the whole process works step by step, so that you don’t forget anything and receive a reply as soon as possible.

In this article, we’ll guide you through the whole process: from choosing a residence and room type, through filling in the application, to what happens after you’ve submitted it. You’ll also find out what to do if you’re applying as a couple or a group of friends, and why there’s no need to send the application more than once.

Non-binding booking: what exactly does this mean?

The booking form on our website is an expression of interest, not a confirmed booking. In other words: by submitting it, you do not pay anything and you are not committing to signing a contract. We will review your enquiry and get back to you with the next steps within 3 working days at the latest.

This approach has two major advantages. Firstly, you can submit your enquiry as soon as a room catches your eye, without having to wait until you’re completely sure. Secondly, you can be sure that we’ll speak to you before any decision is made. Please just bear in mind that submitting the form does not in itself mean your place is confirmed or guaranteed, so please always wait for our reply.

Step 1: Choose a residence and room type

Before you fill in the form, you need to be clear about two things: the name of the residence and the type of room. We operate four residences in Brno. Plevova 7 and Plevova 9 are right next to each other in a quiet area of Brno-Žabovřesky, Tyršova 70 is a corner building near public transport stops in Brno-Královo Pole, with universities within a 10-minute public transport journey, and Střední 15 is a newly renovated building in the same neighbourhood. You can find travel times to the individual faculties and virtual tours on the ‘Residences and Location’ page.

We offer three types of rooms in all our residences:

  • STUDIO: a 1+kk studio with two separate beds, its own fully equipped kitchen and a bathroom with a toilet.
  • SINGLE: a private room in a two- or three-bedroom shared flat, the ideal choice for anyone who values extra privacy.
  • DOUBLE: a room with two separate beds in a shared flat, a suitable option for couples.

For SINGLE and DOUBLE rooms, you’ll have access to a fully equipped shared kitchen including a dishwasher, a bathroom with a separate toilet, a shared balcony and a walk-in wardrobe (facilities vary by residence). You can find details and the current price list on the Rooms and Price List page. And if you’re still unsure which type is right for you, our article ‘Studio, single or double’ will help.

Step 2: Fill in the booking form

It only takes a few minutes to complete. You’ll find the form on the homepage of our website; please provide the following details:

  1. first name and surname,
  2. telephone number,
  3. the name of your chosen residence,
  4. room type (STUDIO, SINGLE or DOUBLE),
  5. length of stay: 10 or 12 months.

Are you applying as a couple or a group of friends and would like to live together? In that case, please submit a single joint application for the whole group. It’s enough for just one of you to send it. That way, we’ll know straight away that we need to find accommodation for all of you together.

Step 3: Submit your application and wait for a reply

Once you’ve submitted the form, it’s up to us. We’ll get back to you within 3 working days at the latest and discuss the next steps. You therefore don’t need to send a repeat application or a reminder email.

If, however, you’re still unsure whether your application has been received correctly, you can contact us by phone on +420 601 234 583 (Mon–Fri 8 am to 4 pm) or by email at home@abcstudenthome.cz. We’ll be happy to confirm everything for you.

What you’ll get when you stay with us

All units are newly and modernly furnished and fully equipped, including kitchen appliances and bedding. The rent includes high-speed Wi-Fi and utility bills – that is, electricity, water and heating. There is also a communal lounge with a study area and a self-service launderette; you’ll find restaurants, supermarkets, cafés and public transport stops close to the buildings. Our accommodation is designed for university students and young people in vocational training, so you can look forward to a peaceful, community-oriented environment that’s ideal for studying.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is submitting the booking form binding?

No. The form serves as a non-binding expression of interest; it is not a confirmed booking, and submitting it does not guarantee you a place. You do not pay anything and do not sign anything. We will agree on the next steps together once we have contacted you.

How long will it take to receive a reply?

We’ll reply within 3 working days of you submitting your enquiry at the latest. You therefore don’t need to send a new enquiry or a reminder email.

We’d like to stay as a couple or a group. Does everyone have to submit a separate enquiry?

No, they do not. A couple or a group of friends should submit a single joint application. One of you should submit it, stating your first name and surname, telephone number, chosen residence, room type and the length of stay (10 or 12 months).

Have you made your choice? Then there’s just one step left: fill in the non-binding booking form on the homepage of our website and we’ll get back to you within 3 working days at the latest. We look forward to hearing from you – perhaps you’ll soon be living in one of our four residences in Brno.
